Scan a room in the Sitework iOS app and get a floor plan from a LiDAR scan, a measurement table and a 3D model, all filed in the project. Measurements are for reference only, so verify them in the field before you use them in construction documents.

Three scan modes

Room

iOS 16.4 or later

Captures walls, doors, windows, floors and furniture using Apple RoomPlan.

MoreYou get a 2D floor plan with each room’s name and area and the wall dimensions, a measurement table, and a 3D model with selectable pieces, a tape measure and quick views. You can hide pieces and pin notes on the plan.

Space

Captures a colored 3D mesh of the whole space.

MoreIf a phone call or app switch interrupts you, the scan pauses and picks back up without starting over. Space scans open in a 3D measuring viewer. They do not produce a floor plan or measurement table.

Photo

iOS 17 or later

Builds a 3D model from 20 to 300 photos, reconstructed on the device with Apple Object Capture.

Uploads

The device uploads each scan in the background and retries if the connection drops. When processing is done, you get a “scan ready” notification.

Where scans live

  • Your team: every scan is filed in the project’s Scans tab.
  • Clients: staff choose which scans to share, and clients see them in the client portal.
  • Collaborators: invited collaborators can view scans on their projects, with no editing.
  • View-only links: send a private link to a room scan that expires after 1, 7, 30 or 90 days. You can revoke it at any time and see how many times it was viewed. The person you send it to doesn’t need an account.

Plans and limits

LiDAR scanning is included by plan: Starter includes 1 scan project a month, Core includes 2 and Pro includes 4. An add-on gives you 8 more. Extra scans are $9 each. Scanning needs a LiDAR-equipped iPhone or iPad Pro and the Sitework iOS app. Measurements are for reference only and are not a dimensional accuracy guarantee.

What device do I need?

A LiDAR-equipped iPhone or iPad Pro running the Sitework iOS app. Room scans need iOS 16.4 or later, and Photo scans need iOS 17 or later.

What do I get from a room scan?

A 2D floor plan from the LiDAR scan with each room’s name and area and the wall dimensions, a measurement table, and a 3D model with a tape measure. You can hide pieces and pin notes on the plan.

How accurate are the measurements?

Scans are for reference only. Sitework doesn’t publish an accuracy figure, so verify measurements in the field before using them in construction documents.

What file formats can I export?

A 3D DWG for AutoCAD (2018 or 2004), a .dae 3D model for SketchUp, a DXF floor plan, a to-scale floor plan PDF in meters or feet and inches, and the 3D model as OBJ or GLB.

Can I share a scan with someone who doesn’t use Sitework?

Yes. Send a private view-only link to a room scan. It expires after 1, 7, 30 or 90 days, you can revoke it, and the recipient doesn’t need an account.
